Jean,

Thanks for providing the results of your installation process for all
to benefit from. Information is on the way shortly to help streamline
the installation process on a variety of linux flavors to ensure that
the proper libraries and JRE packages are available for IDL and the
Workbench.

The GIO modules make up the input, output and streaming API of glib
library. It has been reported in many Ubuntu forums as problematic
with a variety of applications. Based on the information in this bug
dialog it appears that Ubuntu did not name the lib directories in a
manner that would accommodate 32-bit and 64-bit libraries for software
that is not built specifically using their paradigm. I hope this
helps.
