license manager error [message #74870]

% LICENSE MANAGER: Current license is not for the specified X Window
display.

Can anyone explain why this shows up every so often in my IDL 8.0.1
workbench runs? It won't go away unless I quit out and restart, and
it won't let me use DG. There's no consistency as to when it shows up
that I can see.
