Folks,

In my struggle to learn more about GRIB files today,
I have also confirmed that the range keywords to the
Map function are broken in IDL 8.1. (Although,
reportedly fixed in IDL 8.2.) Among other things,
this makes it impossible to create a map projection
that is coincident with an image or 2D array.
The map projection always "overflows" its bounds.

I've written an article that describes the problem
and shows several unsuccessful attempts to work
around the problem.

Cheers,

David
