I'm not sure what to tell you. :-)

The ms2gt toolkit works great if you can get it set up
correctly on your computer. The directions for doing so
are *extremely* outdated and probably inaccurate for the
shell you are using. That's the bad news.

The good news is that the support team at NSIDC is more
than happy to help you with this. I would contact them
and ask for their help.
