I am pleased to announce that Mark Piper is now the IDL Product Manager! Mark has been with Exelis VIS for over 13 years in various roles as the IDL training instructor and as a consultant in the Professional Services Group. He has a PhD in astrophysical, planetary and atmospheric sciences from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Mark has been using IDL for almost 20 years, and as many of you know, he loves using IDL and talking about it with others. And he already knows to put on his helmet and protective gear for this crowd :)

It's been a fun and challenging experience as IDL Product Manager. I am moving into a new role as Product Manager – Enterprise to launch our software in a web services and cloud deployment model. So I expect to cross paths with many of you in the future with just a slightly different emphasis in my conversations.
