Folks,
One of the Great Mysteries in IDL is how to use the (apparently)
powerful GridData routine. In particular, this routine seems to throw an
awful lot of "triangle not in counterclockwise order" errors when trying
to grid spherical data.
I have discussed these errors before, and Ben Tupper supplied us with a
couple of methods he used to get around the problem in the past. But, it
was clear this wasn't the complete solution.
Last night, I got an e-mail from Tim Robinshaw that may have put the
nail in the coffin of this problem. It turns out that the code we were
using to dance around the problem wasn't quite accurate. When Tim fixed
the problem with the code, things started to work surprisingly well.
I've updated the article with Tim's comments and discovery:

Cheers,
David
