How to build connection between IDL and postGIS [message #87849]

Hi,
Now I'm working on a system to manage volume images from remote sensing and these images composed a image time series. The system should manage them and do some useful time series analysis on the imagery database. I know the postGIS provide a POSTGIS RASTER plug-in to manage raster data. But I have limited knowledge about POSTGIS and How to use POSTGIS to fulfill my data management requirements. Does anyone give some advice?
