Since you mention CDE, has anyone else noticed that the IDL pickfile()
function seems to have a problem with CDE? On all of our 2.5 and
2.5.1 hosts, if an IDL program uses pickfile with a filter, and there
are no matching files in the directory that it is started in, the
"Files" field gets into weird state and won't properly display *any*
filenames when you navigate into a directory with matching files.
Setting the current directory to one with files that match the filter
cures the problem.

I haven't submitted a bug report, because it was my experience when
running IDL on 2.4, that anytime I had a display problem RSI would feel
the need to inform me that 2.4 wasn't a supported OS. Since we adopted
2.5 and CDE fairly early on, I didn't need the aggravation of hearing this
message again. Perhaps now there are enough 2.5 (and CDE?) users that
RSI might address the problem.
