PV-Wave v IDL - How do the command languages compare? [message #1094]

How do the programming languages of PV-Wave and IDL compare?
Are they similar?
Are they based on other languages(ie C or Fortran)?
Are they easy to learn?
Which one do you prefer?
Any advice will be appreciated.
