Hello:
I am a PV-WAVE user never programmed in Tcl/Tk. I am interested in
Tcl/Tk CL. Before I invest my in time learning Tcl/Tk, I have some
questions to people who have had experience with both PV_WAVE(or
IDL) and Tcl/Tk.
1) How do you compare the ease of programming widgets in PV-WAVE
vs Tcl/Tk?
Given that both are interpreter CLs, I feel that both are of
same difficulty/ease.
2) PV_WAVE originally was designed for data analysis and hence has
a very rich set of functions to handle 1,2, and 3-D (even N-D)
data set. Does the same hold true for Tcl/Tk?
3) Given that I have spent enough time learning and
mastering PV-WAVE and can produce fairly complex widget
based applications, is it worth spending time to learn Tcl/Tk
and switch over to Tcl/Tk? Why?
4) Can Tcl/Tk communicate with PV-WAVE?
Thanks.
