Resizing IDL Windows
QUESTION: When I resize an IDL graphics window on my Windows machine, I get all the intervening events between the orginal window size and the final window size. The result is that the window doesn't resize smoothly. What can I do about this?
ANSWER: This has nothing to do with IDL. This kind of behavior is a configuable parameter of the Windows NT operating system. Go to your CONTROL PANEL -> DISPLAY -> PLUS! VISUAL SETTINGS dialog and turn the Show Window Contents While Dragging option off.
On Windows XP, you find this option by right clicking on the desktop, then choosing the Appearance tab on the Display Property dialog. Select the Effects... button to find the Show Window Contents While Dragging option.
