Font Size Changed

QUESTION: Goodness! I just installed IDL 8.1 and all the object graphics programs I wrote for IDL 7.1.1 have grown in size! It looks to me like a 12 point font is now about two-thirds larger than it used to be. What happened!?

ANSWER: It is not clear what happened, but fonts did change in IDL 8. And you are correct, they are about two-thirds larger than they used to be. Here is the same program, run in IDL 7.1 (left) and IDL 8.1 (right).
