David Fanning

Coyote's Guide to IDL Programming was for many years the personal web page of IDL expert David Fanning and his alter ego Coyote. David and Coyote retired in 2015 and the web page is now maintained by Paulo Penteado at JPL. At the time David and Coyote left the IDL community, IDL was just coming around to function graphics, so most of the articles on this page are concerned with how graphics and other things were done in IDL before 2014. Say, up though IDL 8.2. Nevertheless, many IDL programmers with existing code wished this web page to be available after 2015. Paulo graciously volunteered to give it a new home and do what he could to maintain some reasonable level of relevance to the IDL community.

Coyote Coyote is still "goin' along, lookin' for food, like he always is" at David's RawahRanger (ray-wah ranger) travel blog. Drop on by and say hello if you are so inclined. They would love to hear from you. You can find David's latest book, Voices of The Colorado Trail, on Amazon.
